What happened in 2011?

The SNP won 69 seats, producing the first and so far only outright majority in Scottish Parliament election history.

Scottish Parliament elections use the Additional Member System: 73 constituency MSPs are combined with 56 regional MSPs. The two ballots mean constituency and regional vote shares are separate measures.
