What happened in 2007?

The DUP won 36 seats and Sinn Féin 28. The election preceded the restoration of devolved government in May 2007.

Northern Ireland Assembly elections use Single Transferable Vote (STV). At this election, each of the 18 constituencies returned six MLAs. First-preference vote share is therefore only one part of the count because later preferences can transfer between candidates.
