BIOGRAPHY · EARLY LIFE AND CAREER

MP: biography and parliamentary career

Cameron Thomas served in the armed forces before entering politics, gaining experience of operational service and the challenges faced by military families. He later worked in the private sector, building a career outside Westminster before becoming involved in Liberal Democrat campaigning.

He won Tewkesbury for the Liberal Democrats in July 2024, overturning a longstanding Conservative hold on the Gloucestershire seat. His constituency covers towns and rural settlements affected by concerns about flooding, access to services and development pressure.

Thomas has drawn on his military service in debates about defence and veterans, while continuing to campaign for improved infrastructure and environmental protection in Tewkesbury. His election came amid a series of Liberal Democrat gains across the West Country. His background in the armed forces provides a personal connection with service and national security policy.
