How the result compares with 2024

At the 2024 general election, Starmer won 18,884 votes, with a majority of 11,572 over independent candidate Andrew Feinstein. Labour’s vote total fell by 6,592 in this by-election, although considerably fewer people took part: Camden recorded turnout of 54.46% in 2024.

The Greens increased their vote from 4,030 to 8,928 and moved from third to second place. That comparison needs to account for the changed field of candidates. Feinstein, who received 7,312 votes in 2024, did not stand this time; his absence prevents a simple reading of the Green increase as entirely new support.

Labour retained a clear lead over its nearest challenger, but with a substantially smaller majority. The result records how this constituency voted in a contest featuring the Green leader; it cannot establish how the same parties would perform across the country.
